Turn a CSV or TSV table into JSON objects. Header row, type inference, RFC 4180 quotes. Stays on your device.
JSON
[
{
"id": 1,
"user.name": "Ada",
"user.city": "London",
"tags.0": "math",
"tags.1": "engine"
},
{
"id": 2,
"user.name": "Grace",
"user.city": "New York",
"tags.0": "navy",
"tags.1": ""
}
]How to use this tool
- Paste CSV with a header row.
- Pick comma, tab, or pipe.
- Keep type inference on unless you need every cell as a string.
- Copy the JSON array.
Worked example
The sample header id,user.name,user.city becomes two objects with those exact keys. id is a number when inference is on.
Frequently asked questions
- Do quoted commas work?
- Yes. RFC 4180 quotes and doubled quotes inside a field are parsed.
- What does type inference do?
- true/false become booleans, null becomes null, and plain integers or decimals become numbers. Everything else stays a string.
- Can I use tabs?
- Set the delimiter to Tab for TSV exports from Excel or BigQuery.
- Are headers required?
- This page assumes a header row. Empty headers become column_1, column_2, and so on.
- Will dotted headers nest objects?
- Not yet. user.name stays a flat key. Nesting is the reverse of flatten and ships later if people ask.
