Free DNS Lookup Checker

Free DNS lookup checker. Query A, AAAA, MX, TXT, CNAME, NS, SOA, and CAA over DNS-over-HTTPS in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Queries leave this tab only for Cloudflare (cloudflare-dns.com) or Google (dns.google) DNS-over-HTTPS. Nothing is posted to Free Tab Tools.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter a hostname (example.com) or paste a URL — the host is stripped.
  2. Pick a record type and a DoH provider (auto tries Cloudflare, then Google).
  3. Read name, type, TTL, and rdata. Copy the answer set if you need it elsewhere.

A browser DNS lookup, not a hidden resolver

Most ranking “DNS lookup checker” pages POST the name to a PHP wrapper around dig. That is a server log of every host you type. This tool speaks the DNS-over-HTTPS JSON APIs from Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and Google Public DNS in your browser. Classic UDP/TCP port 53 never runs here.

Use it to confirm an A/AAAA cutover, read MX preference, or pull the TXT set before you parse SPF. Pair it with the SPF record checker when you care about v=spf1 and the 10-lookup limit.

Worked example

Click Sample. example.com type A should return NOERROR, at least one IPv4 address, and a TTL. Switch the type to TXT — IANA’s example domain publishes a short SPF of roughly v=spf1 -all (they do not send mail). That is the record the SPF checker will walk next. Nothing in that flow is uploaded to Free Tab Tools.

Frequently asked questions

What is a DNS lookup checker?
It asks a public resolver for records on a hostname — A, AAAA, MX, TXT, CNAME, NS, SOA, or CAA — and shows the answers plus TTL. This page does that with DNS-over-HTTPS, not a raw DNS socket.
Does this use my ISP DNS?
No. The browser calls Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare-dns.com) and, if that transport fails, Google Public DNS (dns.google). You can lock the provider in the menu.
Is the query uploaded to your servers?
No. Free Tab Tools never sees the hostname. The only third parties are the DoH resolvers you choose. There is no backend DNS daemon on this site.
Which record types can I look up?
A, AAAA, MX, TXT, CNAME, NS, SOA, PTR, and CAA. TXT is the one you want before opening the SPF record checker.
Why do Cloudflare and Google results sometimes differ?
Caches and anycast views differ. TTL is a hint, not a guarantee both resolvers expire at the same second. An NXDOMAIN on one and an old A on the other is usually cache, not a bug in this tab.
