First id: version 4 · RFC 4122 variant. v7 sorts by time; v4 does not. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use this tool
- Pick v4 or v7 and how many ids you need.
- Copy the list.
- Generate again if you need a fresh batch.
Worked example
Leave the default at five v4 ids. Each line is 8-4-4-4-12 hex. Switch to v7 and the first block of bits moves with the clock.
Frequently asked questions
- v4 vs v7?
- v4 is random. v7 (RFC 9562) starts with a Unix-millisecond timestamp so ids sort by time. Both use the RFC 4122 variant bits.
- Uploaded?
- No. crypto.getRandomValues runs in this tab.
- Can I validate a UUID?
- Paste is not a separate form — generate one and the first line is parsed for version and variant.
- Is this a GUID?
- Same 128-bit layout. Windows often calls it a GUID.
- Collision?
- v4 collision risk is negligible for ordinary app ids.
