Frequently asked questions
- robots meta vs robots.txt?
- robots.txt is crawl paths at the host root. This tag is page-level indexing. noindex here does not hide the URL from a path that robots.txt allows.
- index, follow?
- The default. Use noindex, follow for thank-you pages you still want link equity through. noarchive / nosnippet / noimageindex are extras.
- max-image-preview?
- Google: none / standard / large. large is what most article templates want.
