How to use this tool
- Pick self-only or family HDHP coverage and your age at year-end.
- Enter months eligible (or check last-month rule), employer dollars, and your dollars.
- Read remaining room or excess.
Worked example
Self-only, age 40, 12 months, $1,000 employer + $2,000 employee: the 2026 cap is $4,400, so $1,400 remains. Family + age 55 is $9,750. Six eligible months without last-month rule halves a self-only cap to $2,200. A use-it-or-lose-it health FSA (not an HSA) is on the 2026 FSA calculator.
