Free 80D health insurance deduction calculator. ₹25k / ₹50k self and parent buckets, ₹5,000 preventive inside the cap. Browser tool — nothing is uploaded.
Old regime: two buckets — self/family ₹25,000 and parents ₹50,000. Preventive checkup (max ₹5,000) sits inside those ceilings. Not tax advice.
80D total

Self / family allowed
₹22,000
Parents allowed
₹32,000
Preventive used
₹4,000
Max possible
₹75,000
How to use this tool
- Choose old vs new regime and whether self or parents are 60+.
- Enter premiums and any preventive checkup.
- Read the two buckets and the total 80D figure.
Worked example
₹18,000 self premium (not senior) + ₹4,000 checkup + ₹32,000 senior parent premium: self bucket takes ₹22,000, parents take ₹32,000, total ₹54,000. If self premium is already ₹22,000, only ₹3,000 of checkup fits in the ₹25,000 self ceiling; leftover preventive (up to the ₹5,000 cap) can sit in the parents bucket when that room exists. Pair with 80C and the old vs new regime tool — a ₹15 lakh new-regime salary is still ₹97,500 tax before any of this, because 80D does not apply there.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the 80D ceilings?
- Self, spouse, and dependent children: ₹25,000, or ₹50,000 if you or your spouse is 60+. Parents are a second bucket — ₹25,000, or ₹50,000 if either parent is 60+.
- Is preventive checkup extra?
- No. Up to ₹5,000 of preventive health checkup sits inside the same 25k/50k ceilings, not on top.
- Does the new regime allow 80D?
- No. FY 2026-27 new regime blocks 80D. Employer NPS 80CCD(2) is a different section and still works — see the NPS 80CCD(1B) calculator.
- Uninsured senior medical bills?
- Medical expenditure for a senior citizen without a health policy can fill leftover room in that person’s 80D bucket.
- Uploaded?
- No.
