Worked example
₹12 lakh basic + DA, ₹1.5 lakh already in EPF/PPF/ELSS, ₹1 lakh of your NPS, ₹50,000 employer NPS. Old regime: 80CCD(1) is ₹0 because 80CCE is full, 80CCD(1B) takes ₹50,000, 80CCD(2) takes ₹50,000. New regime: only the ₹50,000 employer piece remains. A ₹15 lakh new-regime salary is still ₹97,500 tax in the income-tax tool before this extra 80CCD(2) cut.
